Match Report: Barcelona 1-2 Mallorca

Well, we’ve won the Liga so last night’s match isn’t of much importance, however we’re still a tad annoyed that the boys lost.
.
Why? Good question. Well, Pep fielded a team of substitutes and B-teamers, looking to rest the starters up for the final in Roma, and perhaps not much is expected of a team of youngsters up against a Mallorca side who are still taking things seriously. The reason we’re upset with the result is, actually, Eto’o.

Yeah, there was one starter playing last night, Samuel Eto’o, for the sole reason of securing the Pichichi (top scorer) title. He needs to add a few more goals to his tally what with Diego Forlan right behind him, and it was almost as if that was the sole purpose of this match, for Samu to score. That’s what the team was playing: not football, but pass-it-to-Samu-so-he-can-score ball. And oh, he did, just about ten minutes into the match, but did he follow it up? Nope. Just wasted about oh, twenty hundred other silver-platter chances. Heck, he even missed a penalty! Samu has got a serious, serious finishing problem these days, and he’s got to work on that if means to do anything other than ball-hog in Roma.

He’s Liga top scorer, but a good majority of those goals were scored in the first half of the season. Lately, the dude’s form is going down and his ego’s going up. Don’t get us wrong, we just love him to bits; but when the team’s devoting an entire match to him and his Pichichi, it’s just a tad bit annoying that he doesn’t step up and show that he’s worth it.

You’d think the Liga title, Pep and the team’s confidence in him, the fact that he was Captain for this one and his son Etiene’s presence in the stands would all be motivators for him to really do well; however for some reason they were not. That missed penalty could have at least tied the game for us, and he just took it to the post. Disappointing… but then, we also must take into account that the opposition, Mallorca, are Samu’s old club, his heart’s club actually and the one he says he wants to retire with. Well… we can cut him some slack for that one.

Still, if Pep decides to play him next round against Osasuna, he’d better have something to show for it. And with that, we’ll move on to the rest of the team…

We’re just adoring these youngsters. Bojan was simply spectacular, set up Samu’s goal beautifully and just played his heart out, Man of the Match for sure. We’re so loving tall little Oier in goal, and Pedro sprinting Messi-style on the wing, and all the rest of the youngsters, especially the incredible hunk that is Xavi Torres! With a name like that you can only expect him to be amazing, looks-wise he’s just gorgeous and in terms of play, well, he had both Hleb and Guddy’s asses covered and did a wondrous job on the whole (in passing, Hleb is cute but he’s such a flop as a player. He’s Pep’s biggest mistake, and Guddy is Frank’s). We're loving on his eyes and his shoulders and his hairstyle and his beard and especially that mustache... oh, dear. Move aside Andresito, we've got ourselves a new crush.

We’re loving Pep’s change to a grey suit, and the hot photos of him in it, but of course the cameramen are too daft to realize the absolute hotness of our Xavi Torres, or else they would have taken a decent picture of him, instead of focusing on Eto’o. There’s only one side shot of him, he’s the first one on the left in this first picture here, below…
