Match Report: Barcelona 2-1 Racing Santander

What can we say, except for this: Lionel Messi is the King of Football. The entire match was a mess before he came on... we were down by one goal, the attack was asleep, scores of yellow cards had been drawn on our players and everything was terrible. Then, magical Messi steps onto the pitch, and within minutes he scores the equalizer. Wait a bit more, and he scores the winning goal, scoring with it the 5000th league goal of FC Barcelona. He came on and single-handedly did what the whole team could not. He is simply the master, the most incredible footballer ever to grace the Earth.

Ah yes, Messi was amazing, and this was a wondrous match for him; but the loveliness of it all was marred by the absolute idiocy we had to put up with from that referee.

He booked almost every single one of our players, more often than not unnecessarily, awarding a penalty to Racing along the way while denying one that should have rightly been ours. And if that were not enough, he had to go so far as too give two yellow cards apiece to each of the two hotties in our central defense duo, Marquez and Pique, sending them both off and causing them to miss the next match. Oh, and not to mention the fact that the yellow he showed Daniel Alves was Dani’s fifth; meaning he won’t be able to make the coming Liga match either. And what with those three missing out on the game, and Puyol being injured, there goes our entire defense! Pep will have to make do with substitutes and B-team lads for the meet against Gijon, and we’re worried that the backline will be somewhat shaky.

The referee was quite ridiculous, and we wouldn’t be half surprised if Barca appeal Dani’s yellow card as well as Pique’s second, as the two were quite undeserved. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed and hope they’ll both be revoked.
And again: All hail the mighty Messiah, the savior of Barca, the unbelievable Leo Messi.
