Transfer Talk: Getting Nearer

The Catalan authorities over at Sport claim that Ribery has already reached an agreement with the club. We’ve expressed our opinion on this before, and again, the thought of seeing him on our team really doesn’t appeal to us; however if it happens, what can we do but simply resign to the matter. He does have undeniable talent, anyway…

Now all that’s left, apparently, is for Barca to reach the agreement with Bayern Munich. Just how willing they would be to let go of him, we can’t say; but Ribery’s teammate, Van Buyten, claims that if Ribery goes, he wants to follow.

Everyone wants to be part of Barca these days. But then, after how our players owned theirs in the Champions League, Van Buyten’s feelings are purely natural… we hear you, love. We have sympathy for those like you who are condemned to suffer on inferior teams.

  1. Barca are amazing but not invincible. Frank is one of the best players in the world and would make us better. I can't believe that you think looks are more important than having a solid team. Clearly you're not much of a football fan. Even though he is a two time FIFA player of the year and brought us league titles along with the Champios League trophy did you dismiss Ronaldinho too just because he wasn't hot? When we say "mes que un club" we don't mean beauty pageant.

FYI Frank has those scars because he was in a horrible accident as a kid. It's pretty crass and heinous that you would dismiss him because of that. I misjudged this blog; I thought you were a blaugrana fan.

  2. Sarah, we live and die for Blaugrana, or else this blog would not exist. We beleive in the importance of strong players on the team, no matter what they look like, and such comments expressed on this blog are meant to be taken lightly. We love Ronnie as a part of Barca, even after he left, and if Ribery were to join we're sure we'd come to love him for what he would offer to the team; however at the moment he's just not the first option we would go for. We're not dismissing him for his looks.

You are right though, that it is insensitive to make fun of his scars that way, and we apologize for that. It has been edited out. We hope you understand, and thank you for commenting and pointing this out.

  3. Thank you for putting my concerns to rest and don't worry I understand the importance of hotness. I take a long hard look when Thierry is in a suit or Bojan takes his shirt off I just think that talent takes precedent. I see that you agree. I'm sorry for coming off sounding so harsh; it wasn't my intention. Thanks for the edit; it's calming. I stand by my assertion that this is a good blog.
